Barbara Kruger is an American conceptual artist. Much of her work consists of black-and-white photographs overlaid with declarative captions—in white-on-red Futura Bold Oblique or Helvetica Ultra Condensed. Much of Kruger's work pairs found photographs with pithy and assertive text that challenges the viewer. She develops her ideas on a computer, later transferring the results to (often billboard-sized) images. Kruger has said that "I work with pictures and words because they have the ability to determine who we are and who we aren't.

This picture by Barbara Kruger is of a woman and carries a message to the viewer of how barbra kruger believes a womans body is all that makes up of her, she gets this message across by referring to the a woman's body as a battle ground, he gets the viewers attention by using contrast on the woman and putting the text in red boxes since red is a very contrasting and eye catching colour. she also inverts half the images lighting to negative in order to get the image across as a womans has to very contrasted and opposite sides and should be treated fairly.
